Transport Workers Call Strike Today

BHUBANESWAR: A day after drivers of commercial vehicles called off their strike, which opposed the accident and hit-and-run provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the All Odisha Transport Workers Federation gave a strike call from Monday. The workers will stop loading petrol and diesel from oil depots, which may lead to shortage in fuel stations.
We don’t know why drivers called off their strike and who assured them what but our workers will not load fuel in tankers from Monday. We are demanding withdrawal of the provisions of 10-year jail and Rs 7 lakh penalty on drivers in accident deaths or hit-and-run cases,” said Janardan Pati, president of the association.
